Week 12: End of first trimester!
Mood:  chillin'
This week is the end of my first trimester. YAY! I'm feeling ok. Still haven't seen much of a bulge yet, and hubby keeps bugging me about it. He's dying to see a huge belly and can't wait to feel the baby kicking and moving. I'm telling him, slow down, it takes time for the baby to grow. But I read that starting this month and the months that follow is the time the baby grows quickly. Yesterday I had a combined screening done. I'll know the results in a couple of days. With those results we'll decide whether to do an amnio or not. And I have to keep checking my blood sugar to see if I need to be on any medication during my pregnancy. I got off the metformin because my gyn advised me to. Hopefully everything will be fine. So many tests and scary things to go through when you're pregnant. I had no idea.

Week 10
Mood:  amorous
We had some counseling about getting an amniocentisis. Hubby and I still have alot of thinking to do. I'm not that convinced on getting one. The doctor did mention a screening which sounds better since there is no risk with miscarriage, but it's not 1oo% on the chromosome problems or diseases like the amnio is. I asked the doctor in her experience, do many women do it. She compared New York City with Florida (since we're moving there) and she said here in NYC more women get it done because everyone here is more nervous and obsessed with having a perfect baby and in Florida they are more relaxed and laid back. Interesting. She gave us the name of a doctor that she knows in Florida. Problem is he's a little far from where we're going to live. We have to see exactly how far when we get there. They took tons of blood for all these tests. I go back next week for the screening test. We had an ultrasound and the baby is getting bigger. His head was bigger and we saw his little arms taking a clearer form. He was moving and swimming so much, the doctor could hardly get a good shot! We also heard his heartbeat for the first time. The doctor said it was good. His size was normal for 10 weeks and 1 day. They did the normal ultrasound first but then they had to do it transvaginally to get a better view. The due date is April 18 2005. I'm so inlove with my baby!

Week 8
Mood:  happy
Had another sonogram this morning. I'm 8 weeks now. The baby is doing fine and getting bigger! We can now see a definite shape, the head, a torso, 2 liitle arms and legs. There is a little something to worry about though: bleeding. I had stopped bleeding but I'm spotting sometimes. The sonogram shows some blood in the uterus, right next to the amniotic sac. The spotting is kind of brown and the doctor said it's old blood and it's drying up. But she said I need rest. Not to stand for too long and to keep my feet up. So no more work. You don't know how relieved I am that the baby's ok. Couldn't sleep all week! The doctor asked us if we considered getting an amniocentesis (I'm 35). We are considering it but still have to think about it because there is a chance of miscarriage with that test. Any one has any opinion on getting an amnio? Let me know!

A big Scare!!!!: Week 6
Yesterday hubby and I went to the doctor for our first pregnant sonogram. We were so excited because we were going to see the baby's heartbeat. The sonogram is done vaginally. I was worried because it's done with this huge wand and I thought it might hurt the baby,(I know it's still an embryo but it's my baby!). So we found out it's one baby. We saw the tiniest little thing with a tiny little heart fluttering really fast. The doctor said everything looks good and that I'm 6 weeks and a couple of days. We go back in 2 weeks for another check up. We even got our first baby picture from the sonogram. Then I went to work around 4 p.m. Everything was fine until around 8:30 p.m. I started feeling some cramps at first, then I felt something warm run down my leg. I froze. No it couldn't be! I ran to the bathroom and my fears were confirmed, I was bleeding. I called my husband and he came to pick me up. We called the doctor and she said it's most likely from the sonogram and from moving too much at work. She told me not to worry and to get some rest and to take some time off work. I prayed all night. This morning the bleeding had stopped and it wasn't alot of blood since last night. We called the nurse and she told us it happens sometimes after a sonogram when the cervix is still sensitive. Well I was scared shitless, to say the least. So was hubby. He didn't sleep well last night. So now I'm resting and taking the rest of the week off. Not like I could afford to but my baby comes first. I'm still worried if everything is ok in there but the nurse said as long as the bleeding stopped it's coming from the cervix not from the fetus.

First Trimester: Week 3
Mood:  lucky
I'm feeling the little changes in my body day by day. I'm feeling cramps which the nurse says it's the embryos attaching themselves and the uterus getting ready for the pregnancy. I get so sleepy in the afternoon, and I get a little light headed and dizzy sometimes. My breasts are bloated and tender. I go to the bathroom alot. We went for the blood work this morning and the nurse called me this afternoon for the results. She was thrilled saying my numbers (beta) are doubling, 820 or something. She was happy and told me "Congratulations", again. That made my day. We go back in 2 weeks for an ultrasound to hear the heartbeats! We don't know if it's one or two or three! How am I supposed to wait 2 weeks??? I'm so excited.
