Almost Terrible Two's
Mood: a-ok
Now Playing: TV
Topic: Growing Pains
My baby is now 22 months. But he's already acting like he's in the terrible two's which is right around the corner. He'll be 2 at the end of March. He's starting to throw tantrums, being picky about what he wants to eat (junk food & candy) and what he doesn't, he doesn't want to take his naps, or let me change his diapers or his clothes. It's been crazy. He's talking more and more, mimicking everything we say, very alert of everything around him. He's very bright and so funny. Yes, there are days when I'm pulling out my hair, but the days when he hugs me & kisses me or gives me the sweetest most loving looks, those are the days that make everything worth it! I can't believe it's almost 2 years already! I love you baby!

Noah goes to Disney's Magic Kingdom
Mood: lazy
Topic: Adventures

Noah is now 1 1/2 years old. He's trying to talk. He says mama, daddy, eye, ear, bye-bye, melmo (Elmo), ba-ba (Spongebob), ca-ca (that's his word for car, not poop). He takes our cell phones and makes pretend he's talking to his daddy when he's at work. He's growing so fast it's crazy. He loves looking at photo albums, especially one where there are baby pictures of me (he looks so much like me when I was a baby!). He could be a lil' monster too, just last week he was refusing to eat! We didn't know what to do. He would just clamp his mouth shut and refused to open it. His daddy just held his jaw so we could feed him. Thank God this only lasted a couple of days. Now he's eating again with no tantrums. I don't know what that was about, but I read that babies do those things trying to test their newly found independence.
We went to Florida (2 weeks) for our vacation. We went to Tampa for one day and we even went to Disney's Magic Kingdom for one day. We didn't plan to go there but it just turned out that way. It was so sunny and so hot! And you don't even get to finish seeing everything because there are just too many things to see! Well, Noah had fun meeting all the Disney characters and taking pictures with them and he even got to ride in "It's a small world after all". We stayed at "Disney's Carribean Beach Resort" for one night. We really wanted to stay at the "Polynesian Resort" but it was all booked. Like I said, we didn't plan to even go to Disney! We visted Downtown Disney also. Too many things to see and we only had one day. We promised to go back when Noah is a little older and we plan things ahead of time. Maybe he'll even have a little brother or sister by that time. God willing.
Well, summer is almost over. We're going to Atlantic City this weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday. I convinced hubby to go because it could be our last summer fun. He's just worried we'll spend money in the casino. Well, we can't because we have the baby and you can't go in there with kids, plus we don't have any money to gamble anyway. There's loads of stuff to do there besides gambling: pool, beach, restaurants, shopping, people watching, boardwalk, amusement park, taking pictures. Hello?

My baby is walking!
Mood: amorous
Now Playing: I want you back: Jackson 5
Topic: Birthdays

My baby is 11 1/2 months old and he's walking all by himself already! He's trying to talk more & more too. We decided we're going to celebrate his birthday at home. We invited a few close friends and family. Maybe about 12-15 people and around 7-8 kids. Our apartment is not huge so I don't want that many people to come. We decided to do a "Finding Nemo" theme party. Hubby & I liked that movie before our baby was born so, even though it's not a new movie, we like it. We already bought the plates, cups, table cover, party favors, decorations, we ordered the cake which will be "Finding Nemo" decorated. All we have to buy now is the balloons and whatever food we will have. We bought "Finding Nemo" invitations and we're putting our baby's picture in there also. It's his 1st birthday and I didn't realize how many things you have to do! This is only the beginning of many birthday's to come!!!

UPDATE: I forgot to post some pics from my baby's birthday. Here are a few:

Mommy's lil' monster is 10 months!
Mood: chillin'
Now Playing: Jazz
Topic: Birthdays
My baby is now 10 months. He has 5 1/2 teeth and he's about to take his first steps on his own, any day now. He is too much! He's learned to climb on & off the sofa, he likes to climb on anything he can! I have to watch him every second because he's so fast and he gets into trouble. Some days I feel I have no energy to keep up with him. When his daddy is working, our daily routine is fine, but when his daddy is off he refuses to take his naps and forget about falling asleep at night! He gets so hyper and excited when he sees his daddy. They'll play together and make so much noise, it's like having 2 kids in the house.
His birthday is coming up soon and I don't know what I should do. Should I make a little party in the house with just family? Or should it be just us 3 and go some where? I actually wanted to go to Disney World but we realize he's still too small to really enjoy the park. Defintely by the time he's 3 or 4. Well, I have some time to think about his birthday. In the mean time I'm trying to lose weight so I can have the energy to keep up with my lil' monster!

9 month checkup
Mood: irritated
Topic: Checkups
Noah had his 9 month checkup today. He also had a the pneumococcal shot, & blood taken. All those needles! He cried so long and so hard! Again I felt so bad, but what else can I do except comfort him? His father had left the room like always, but this time he came back when he heard him crying so loudly. He was moving so much when they weighed him because he didn't want to lie down, and they said he weighed 17.6 At our scale at home he's 18 pounds. He was so scared. I wondered if he remembered the last time we were there which was 2 months ago (October). He grew one inch taller. He was happy to get out of there and he fell asleep in his father's arms as we walked home. When he woke up I gave him some baby tylenol for the pain (no fever, thank God) and he drank his milk. His father then left to play chess in the park since the weather was oddly warm today. I was pissed because of all the times to leave your son! He adores his father and cries every time he leaves. But of course he always chooses chess over anything. Then Noah was so cranky & fussy and not feeling well. No matter what I did he wasn't happy. Finally he fell asleep around 8 p.m. I hope he stays asleep, but I have a feeling he'll be tossing and turning and probably have nightmares tonight. Poor baby, it was a long day for him today. I'm cursing his father for not being here.

Noah's 1st tooth is breaking in!
Mood: chillin'
Now Playing: Jazz
Topic: Milestones
Noah turned 8 months on December 1st. He's been so active, getting into everything, driving me NUTS! He doesn't like to give me a little break, he wants all my attention or he starts whining & crying. It's been tough for me, because it's only me taking care of him. Hubby has to work and I have no family here except my younger sister who lives in another county and has her own child to look after. But I'm not complaining. It's part of motherhood. All Noah has to do is give me a wet sloppy kiss or look at me with his big brown eyes and I'm a puddle.

Noah's first tooth is breaking in! I saw it today while I was trying to get him to take his nap. I wasn't sure, so I put my finger in his mouth and sure enough I felt a little sharp nub coming out of his gums. I was so happy, because it seemed everyone's baby had teeth already. I know every baby has their own pace, I just wondered if he was going to be really late like, 12 months. He's chewing on everything in site. Poor baby, it's probably driving him nuts! Well, that the latest on my little rugrat. He's going to be getting ready for his very first Christmas!

Bad Mom
Mood: sad
Now Playing: Sade: Kiss of Life
Topic: Growing Pains
I've been a bad mom. Noah has been crying hysterically lately whenever I take a shower. I ALWAYS bring him in the bathroom with me (unless he's sleeping, of course) and put him in his bouncy chair with his toys. He never had a problem. It just started about a week ago. I couldn't find what the problem was. Was he hungry? I would give him milk, he wouldn't drink it. Does he think I'm gone? I would sing to him from the shower and even keep showing him my face. Nothing. Still crying. Nap time? No. Change of diaper? No. Is he hurt? No. I was SO frustrated I would yell at him. Was he just being a brat? I couldn't take it anymore and decided to shower only when he was sleeping. That's the ONLY solution. Then I remembered reading something about separation anxiety that babies go through. But I thought it was around 12 months that it began. So I looked it up on the internet and it said that 7 months old is the PRIME AGE that babies experience this! I feel so stupid and mean. I read alot of things, why couldn't I remember this sooner? Why couldn't I pinpoint exactly what is was??? So obvious. My baby can't help it. It's a natural thing that all babies go through. In the websites I read, the only advice they gave was, this phase will pass in a few months, let the baby cry but if your motherly instincts tell you to pick him up then do so. Eventually he will learn that I didn't disappear. Anyway, I still think it's a good idea to jump in the shower when he's sleeping. Less stress for me and less anxiety for him.

Happy Halloween! Noah turns 7 months today.
Mood: caffeinated
Topic: Birthdays
Yesterday we went to the Queens Farm to do some pumpkin picking and looking at farm animals with Noah and his cousin and auntie. We actually didn't pick a pumpkin cuz they were all small and not so good looking. But we did take pictures of the baby in his cute little pumpkin outfit (he got alot of "oooh look at the cute little pumpkin!") and I also did some video of him. His cousin was "Wednesday" of the Adams family and she got alot of attention too because I guess it was kind of original cuz people usually do witches, vampires or princesses. It was a beautiful bright warm sunny day for late October in NYC. Speaking of NYC, (just a little rant here) I'm sooo tired of wailing sirens and beeping car horns and loud mouthed people that wake up my baby when he's trying to sleep. That is what you have to put up with when you live here. It irritates me to no end. I can't wait to move to Florida.
Anyway, today we put on Noah's little pumpkin costume again and take him on his first Trick or Treating! He can't eat the candy, but we'll have fun collecting it. And I'll try my BEST not to ruin my diet by eating his candy. Maybe I'll give the candy to some kids in my building.
Noah is 7 months old today. I'm a little worried because he was babbling a couple of weeks ago saying, "baba, baba", and this week, nothing! Why isin't he saying any words???? I don't get it. I was thinking maybe it's because he's so used to his pacifier and that's stopping him? I'm only giving him his pacifier when he sleeps or when he's really upset. My sister says don't worry, it's a phase he's going through. I hope. I'm going to research it the internet now.

P.S. This post was written on October 31st but by mistake I had published it to my other blog...OOoops! So now I posted it here, that's why the different dates.

Noah is crawling & sitting up!
Mood: a-ok
Now Playing: Smooth Jazz
Topic: Milestones
My baby is crawling! I can't believe it. The funniest thing is he crawls the most & fastest when we put a Pepsi can in front of him. So cute. He loves that blue & red can for some reason. Today I saw him sitting up by himself for the first time. I actually think he did this days ago but I got to see him do it today. He's growing too fast, I'm scared! next thing you know he'll be heading for school, lol! My sweet baby. I'm trying to get most of this stuff on video because these months DO fly by. My sister regrets not getting her daughter on video for all the milestones. It's so much fun to look back years later and have a good laugh (or cry). I was looking at a video of when Noah was a couple of months old. What a difference in how he looks now! And he was SO tiny and making little tiny noises. Now he's strong and getting long, and he's says "Baba, baba" very loudly, he's crawling and getting into trouble pulling things and putting things in his mouth. It's just amazing.

Noah's First Word
Mood: caffeinated
Topic: Milestones
My little rugrat is almost crawling. I'm putting him more and more on the floor so he can learn. At first I didn't want to because he sucks the carpet better than our vacuum cleaner! Even though I put a blanket, he'll lift the blanket and push it aside to suck the carpet. He has to learn though. Still doesn't know what "NO!" means. I think he thinks it means "GO!", lol! He's reaching alot for things. He's so smart and so curious about EVERYTHING. 3 days ago he said his first word. "Baba". Which means daddy (and son) in his father's language. Why is daddy always the first word? But then again his father has been calling him baba since he was born. But I was reading that at this age babies say all kinds of babbling sounds and "baba" could be one of them? But his daddy is pretty sure he's saying daddy. LOL! I'm trying to get him to say mama. He'll say it once then goes back to "baba, baba, baba". So funny this kid.
